Nimue for Highly Pigmented Skin

Years of skin lightener abuse have left many black and olive skin types with abnormal skin pigmentation. The quest for a beautiful fair skin, often results in the use of substances that are damaging to the skins' health. The lack of proper sun protection also contributes to the severity of the condition as it further leads to environmental damage of the skin. Skin health, or the lack of it, has in the recent years been the subject of intense study internationally. A description of the structural defects associated with environmental damage to the integument has introduced ways to combat these defects effectively. With knowledge on how to reverse the damages seen in sick skin, we have started to understand why these changes, when reversed, can lead to the resolution of previously untreatable skin conditions. Hyperpigmentation is regarded as a symptom of sick skin, and its treatment therefore, must be directed to the restoration of the skins' health. There are two ways in which the skin can protect itself and the human body from a hazardous environment:

    1.Fair skin tends to form a thicker stratum corneum.
    2.Black and olive skin types tend to produce more pigmentation abnormalities.

Hyperpigmentation is therefore regarded as a symptom of a sick skin.

the treatment of hyperpigmentation

For the successful treatment of hyperpigmentation, it is essential to direct the management of this condition at:

    1. The restoration of the skins' health;
    2. The preservation of the skins' health;
    3. Avoiding potentially hazardous substances to which the skin can be exposed;
    4. The prevention of excess pigment formation;
    5. The removal of excess pigment from the skin.
